Metro - West

The development of Boston's western suburbs reflects successive generations of transportation radiating from the city - from cart paths, to trains, to streetcars, to highways. Concord and Lexington showcase Colonial neighborhoods; Newton, Waltham, Wellesley, and Natick are Victorian; Weston and Lexington have Mid-century Modern developments. There's a neighborhood for fans of any residential style to be found here.

These communities are also home to a range of civic, religious, and educational institutions which have prioritized good architecture, with particular concentrations of notable design at Boston College, Brandeis University, and Wellesley College.
