One of Boston's best art deco buildings, the post office exhibits several features typical of the style. Its windows are organized vertically into recessed slits between granite strips that soar skyward. As the top stories are approached, the hard mass of light gray granite softens with elaborate geometric shapes and ornament. The ornamentation is a combination of geometric devices and stylized plant forms.
