The Freedom Trail is a popular route for exploring Boston’s historic sites, and it also connects a number of the city’s points of architectural interest.
This guide includes the official stops as well as other important buildings and sites along this second 1.3-mile section of the Trail, starting in the North End and ending at the Charlestown Navy Yard. This section includes the Old North Church, Bunker Hill Monument, and the U.S.S. Constitution, and passes a number of significant houses and older buildings. A separate tour covers the first part of the Trail.
A red-brick line in the sidewalks makes the Trail is easy to follow, but don't hesitate to explore the sites included in this guide that are slightly off the route.
Ferry service is available for the return trip to Boston, departing from Pier 4 in the Charlestown Navy Yard. http://www.mbta.com/schedulesandmaps/boats/lines/stations/?stopId=24470
